Public Policy & Advocacy

Our public policy program is designed to educate policy-makers, community leaders, and the public on strategies we can take to ensure that Ohio creates a sustainable transportation energy framework designed to reduce petroleum consumption and improve Ohio’s economy. We conduct meetings with key decision-makers, community groups and industry representatives, present clean transportation issues in front of legislators and serve as a resource for individuals who wish to be advocates for clean transportation.

Bringing Funding to Ohio
Clean Fuels Ohio has secured over $12 million in federal grants to bring hundreds of new alternative fuel and fuel efficient vehicles to Ohio and to clean up existing dirty diesels. We work with a variety of partners—from local governments and school districts to private industry professionals—to assist them in finding funding for their green transportation projects.
Technology Working Groups

Launched by Clean Fuels Ohio in 2009, our five technology specific working groups are designed to bring fleets, vendors, and suppliers together to develop clean transportation projects, showcase equipment and infrastructure and provide info on the latest developments. Clean Fuels Ohio’s five working groups are:

Quarterly meetings of these groups provide a setting for both fleets and industry partners to network, gain informational resources, and develop new projects.

Idle Reduction

Idle reduction programs focus on reducing the amount of time heavy-duty trucks idle their engines. This reduction saves fuel, cuts engine wear, and saves money. It also reduces emissions and noise. Clean Fuels Ohio offers education and technical assistance to both government and business fleets regarding anti-idling devices and facilities and encourages the adoption of anti-idling policies.

Increasing Fuel Availability

One of the key barriers faced by fleets or individuals interested in using any alternative fuel is limited locations to buy it. Clean Fuels Ohio works hard to overcome this obstacle by encouraging development of refueling stations and, when necessary and possible, helping to secure funding to make it happen.
