According to a review of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency data, 79% of the cancer risk from airborne sources comes from diesel exhaust. The Ohio Green Fleets program is designed to significantly reduce the emission and fuel use of business and government vehicle fleets. Launched in 2008, this program is composed of three core components: helping fleet managers develop Green Fleet policies tailored to their specific needs, hands on assistance in implementing the policies and the development of a statewide rating system to recognize fleets that have made measurable environmental progress. Ohio Green Fleets is presented in partnership with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Ohio Energy Office, Earth Day Coalition, US EPA SmartWay program and several local and regional organizations.
