DeWine Sworn in as Ohio Governor Appointment Will Impact Advanced Transportation

In mid-January, Mike DeWine was sworn in as Ohio's 70th governor. DeWine, a Cedarville, Ohio Republican, has served as lieutenant governor of Ohio under George Voinovich, then U.S. senator, and most recently as Ohio's attorney general. DeWine succeeds former Governor John Kasich. DeWine has made numerous appointments of individuals to direct state agencies. CMAQ Rule Simplification May Free up Millions in Funding for Clean Fuels and Vehicles

As appeared in ACT News The Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program provides millions of dollars of funding across the country for clean vehicle projects. CMAQ was created in 1992 following passage of the federal Clean Air Act (CAA). Congressional Committee Assignments Announced; New Chairs Named

New committee assignments have been announced for the 116th Congress which began on January 3rd. The speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives has also announced new chair assignments. These assignments will impact efforts to advance alternative fuel and vehicle adoption by consumers and fleets. With continued Republican control of the Senate, chair assignments have remained mostly the same. However, with the Democrats now in control of Congress, new chairs have been named for all House committees. Dayton Power & Light Files EV Plan with PUCO

On December 21, 2018, Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) filed a grid modernization plan with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). The plan included a proposal to install 40-50 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations over a three-year period for a total capital investment of $5 million. DP&L proposed that they install, own, and operate the chargers. With this plan, DP&L becomes the second major Ohio operating utility to propose an EV charging investment plan to Ohio regulators. These stations would be a mix of Level 2 and DC fast chargers.
