Action by U.S. House Would Formally Authorize Clean Cities Program and Make Major Investments in Cle

With the pandemic thoroughly dominating news reported out of our nation’s capital, it’s been easy to lose track of major developments that could, if enacted, change the course of clean transportation in America. On July 1, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2, the Moving America Forward Act, by a vote of 233 to 188. The bill broadly addresses infrastructure of all types. State of Ohio Considering Bids for Plug-In Electric and Hybrid Vehicles for State Term Contract

On June 15, 2020, Ohio Department of Administrative Services (ODAS) announced an opportunity for providers of six types of electric drivetrain vehicles. State departments and any local jurisdiction in Ohio can purchase vehicles on the state-term contract without going through a competitive procurement process. Bids were opened July 13 and an announcement of one or more winners will be forthcoming. ODAS specified six vehicle types of categories: Fully electric sedan – 100 miles minimum range Fully electric SUV – 100 miles minimum range Partial Hybrid Electric Plug-In Sedan – 20 miles minimum range Partial Hybrid Electric Plug-In SUV – 20 miles minimum range Sedan Hybrid – 40 mpg fuel economy

Grants for EV Charging Stations Now Available

On July 1, Ohio EPA opened applications and released full program details for $3.25 million in grants for publicly accessible electric vehiclecharging stations. While all eligible parties can apply directly, if your organization is seeking assistance, Clean Fuels Ohio can provide information resources, project competitiveness vetting, and grant writing services. Eligible applicants include public or private entities in the 26 counties that Ohio EPA has identified as eligible to receive funds from the grant program. The following are highlights of clean transportation components included in H.R. 2, the Moving America Forward Act. PUCO Clarifies Rules Regarding Pricing For EV Charging Owners

On July 1, the Ohio Public Utilities Commissioned (PUCO) provided a ruling clarifying the methods of sale for electricity as a motor fuel for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Charging stations throughout the state. The PUCO ruling clarified that owners or site hosts of EV charging stations are not utilities or power distribution companies subject to regulation.
