MWGT 2020 Day 7 Recap

Day seven of #MWGT2020 began with our NGV Industry Expo panel. We heard from five great industry solution providers: Brian Houston from Clean Energy Fuels, Joe Reisz with Agility, Peter Barber with Ingevity, Dev Patel with ANGI, and Kyle Eddington at Worthington Industries. Connect directly with each of them through the Whova app for full details. All panelists emphasized that each fuel has an important role to play. NGV technologies – tanks, station systems, vehicles – are developing quickly. It’s a great fit for heavy duty, and Ingevity solutions are bringing lighter duty vehicles back into play for CNG. RNG creates tremendous potential for environmental benefits. The 10:30 am session was

MWGT 2020 Day 6 Recap

MWGT 2020 Day 5 Recap

I wanted to share a few thoughts from our first week before I give the day five summary: First, it’s impossible for any summary of these sessions to do justice to the quality of the speakers, information and dialogue. If you missed something that looks interesting, go back and access the recording through Whova. Second, kudos to our amazing staff at Clean Fuels Ohio, especially Rachel Ellenberger and Malerie Holte. Our staff has mounted an all-hands-on-deck, do whatever it takes effort. It’s paid off in an experience that we hope has met or exceeded attendee and sponsor expectations. Next, thanks to our great conference partners, especially our partnering Clean Cities coalitions. Our peer co

MWGT 2020 Day 4 Recap

At the weekly senior staff meeting, we received some interesting statistics on the conference and expo so far. We crossed the 600 registered attendee threshold, which was our goal. Attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and staff have sent over 300 messages through Whova. We’ve had an average of over 50 attendees in educational sessions over the first nine days, including expo sessions. We’ve heard some great anecdotes from sponsors on success in connecting with potential customers. The greatest factor for success has been a real focus on leveraging the power of Whova to initiate dialogue. We began again with an industry expo at 9:30 am. W.W. Williams shared information on what they offer

Smart Transportation Sessions Highlight Autonomous Vehicle and System Innovations

Fully autonomous passenger and freight vehicles are still years away. However, researchers and manufacturers are continuing to make progress. Ohio is a national leader on projects to develop infrastructure to enable increasingly sophisticated levels of connection and autonomy. The Midwest Green Transportation Forum and Expo virtual conference features three educational sessions on this topic. One is focused on levels of autonomy in freight transportation. The second concerns technologies in passenger vehicles. The third will address system-level and infrastructure upgrades for connectivity and efficiency. You can find the descriptions for our Smart Mobility sessions on our website here.

Fleets & Advanced Fuels Focus at Virtual Conference

The Midwest Green Transportation Conference is especially oriented toward fleets, with tracks and sessions designed to showcase best practices, solutions, and peer fleet experiences aiming to guide fleet decision making and improve fleet performance. This includes various sessions on fleet management best practices, as well as a series of sessions designed to provide a deep dive into the latest Advanced Fuels options and solutions for fleets and the transportation sector. “Fleet attendees will have access to peer fleet leaders in private logistics, vocational, people transportation, government and other fleet sectors who have implemented solutions” said Sam Spofforth, Clean Fuels Ohio Ex

Clean Fuels Ohio Highlights Electric Vehicles at MWGT Conference

Clean Fuels Ohio kicked off the annual Midwest Green Transportation Forum and Expo on Monday. The virtual conference covers a broad range of alternative fuel topics, and there are several sessions examining trends and best practices in electric vehicle adoption and charging infrastructure deployment. This is a critical time for electric vehicle charging deployment and electric vehicle adoption in Ohio and across the country. Programs to invest tens of millions of dollars in charging are being administered, planned, or considered by public agencies. State, regional, and local authorities are engaging in collaborative planning to optimize charging infrastructure deployment. Medium- and heav

Alternative Fuels Policy Plays a Key Role at MWGT

This year’s MWGT Conference is in full swing and is packed with valuable information for all who participate. One particular set of sessions that I’m excited about are the Policy sessions. From start to finish, all of our sessions focusing on the policy surrounding clean transportation solutions and alternative fuels – as well as infrastructure and manufacturing – are focused on providing attendees with the best possible information, up-to-date trends and practices, and in-depth analyses of the current political and policy climate as they relate to moving the needle on progress in the alternative fuels world. You can find the session descriptions for all our Policy Sessions on our website he

MWGT 2020 Day 1 Recap

On Monday, September 14, the conference kicked off with three strong and distinct educational sessions. First, Utility Roles in EV Charging: Defining and Building Consensus featured a 90-minute conversation between Joe Halso from the Sierra Club, Maria Haberman with AEP Ohio, Kevin Miller at ChargePoint, Josh Cohen from Greenlots, and Jeff Myrom from Consumers Energy. Under Joe’s leadership, the session accomplished exactly what we had hoped it would – identifying areas of strong consensus among critical EV stakeholders who don’t always agree. All agreed that utilities have critical roles to play in funding for EV charging infrastructure in a variety of locations. They also agreed that many
