Today, Clean Fuels Ohio hosted a “mini” lobby day event at the Ohio Statehouse. The focus of the event was to meet with Senators and Administrative Agency staff to express our strong support for House Bill 176 and Senate Bill 267. Clean Fuels Ohio worked with a variety of members including Vectren, NGV America, IGS, Worthington Industries and SARTA as well as The Success Group who supports our work to educate and lobby on legislative issues.
Over the course of the day we were able to get meetings with over a quarter of the Ohio Senate and staff as well as the Ohio EPA, Ohio Development Services Agency and Governor Kasich’s policy staff. Nearly everyone was in support of the legislation and agreed this is a step that Ohio needs to take in order to stay competitive in drawing investment in the alternative fuels industry. We expect the bill to be voted on in the Ohio House and hearings to be started in the Ohio Senate in the very near future.
This event was a shorter, simpler version of our upcoming annual lobby day. That event will combine a day of meetings at the Statehouse with a legislative reception to cap off the work for the day. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24 with the reception from 5-7pm.
Receptions at the Statehouse are an excellent way to connect with lawmakers in a less formal, more relaxed setting to talk about a variety of issues. We are seeking sponsors to cover the costs associated with hosting an event of that type at the Statehouse, and to support Clean Fuels Ohio’s active policy work. If you are interested in being a part of our May lobby day and legislative reception, contact Jason or Nolan at Clean Fuels Ohio to discuss optional levels of support and benefits.
