The program provides low-interest loans to businesses, nonprofits, public school systems, and local governments for the purchase and installation of alternative fuel blending, refueling, or distribution facilities and terminals.
Loan amounts vary depending on the project and can be from $250,000 up to $750,000. Eligible project activities include engineering, construction and equipment costs related to installation of fully operational alternative fuel refueling stations or distribution facilities. This may include but is not limited to compressors, storage tanks, pumps, pipes, fuel lines, refueling equipment, monitoring equipment, required safety equipment, and electronic payment equipment.

To apply, organizations must first register and submit a Letter of Intent. The Letter of Intent must include:
An overview of the proposed project;
Applicant’s qualifications;
Projected budget; and
Project timeline.
The Letter of Intent to apply should be submitted online at: https://development.ohio.gov/AFTApp.
Qualified applicants who have submitted a Letter of Intent will receive written instructions from the Ohio Development Services Agency on how to access the online Loan Application.
