Clean Fuels Ohio 2020 Planning: A Message from the Executive Director

Over the past month or so, our staff and I have been preparing for a busy 2020 and we’re excited about how plans are taking shape. I’d like to give our members, fleet partners and stakeholders a preview. We’d also love to hear your thoughts and suggestions about the upcoming year.

In January we will kick off our annual Department of Energy Clean Cities survey. We will use this opportunity to gather valuable information from hundreds of implementation partners including fleets, site hosts for refueling and recharging infrastructure and others. This will enable us to help our partners make further progress by facilitating powerful connections with industry members offering solutions.

The first quarter of the year is also the busiest time for our government policy work The annual Energy Independence Summit in Washington, DC takes place February 10 through the 12. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with Clean Cities and clean transportation leaders and implementers from across the country. Our goal is to bring three teams of at least 12 total Clean Fuels Ohio members for visits with all members of Ohio’s Congressional delegation and other key Congressional committees and leaders. I’m optimistic that we can create additional incentives in Ohio for clean vehicles and refueling and recharging infrastructure. We will need your active support to make this happen.

We are planning various meetings and events to enable our fleets and other stakeholders to connect with and learn about solution-providers and industry members encompassing all advanced vehicles and fuels – propane, electric, natural gas, biodiesel, efficiency and smart mobility. We will publish our full calendar of activities on our website in January, but here are a few highlights:

  • Mark your calendars for our annual Midwest Green Fleets Forum and Expo on September 16-17.

  • In February, we will hold a series of technology-specific meetings with industry and fleet members.

  • We will invite Ohio fleets to participate in Clean Cities Day and a special Clean Fuels Ohio meeting at the NTEA Work Truck Show on March 4 and 5 in Indianapolis.

  • In late March, in partnership with the OSU Fisher College of Business, we will present a special educational and networking gathering focused on the increasing array of advanced vehicle options for the logistics industry.

  • The Mayor’s Clean Energy Summit will take place in Cincinnati on May 1. We’re leading educational sessions for the advanced transportation solutions component of the Summit and building in opportunities for governments and private fleets to connect and learn from our industry members.

We’re entering 2020 with a strong team and we’re welcoming new staff. We’ll share news soon. The move to our new office has lifted our spirits and boosted productivity. We’ve worked hard to put new internal systems in place to increase efficiency and responsiveness to members. All of this will help achieve greater mission impact for clean and sustainable transportation that helps make Ohio more prosperous.

If you are a member, we’ve love to hear your ideas. If you’re not but are interested or have questions, we’d love to talk with you. Contact Rachel Ellenberger, our Business Development and Communications Manager for more information on membership packages and benefits.

Finally, whether you are here in the Buckeye State or far away, I hope you will have the chance to celebrate accomplishments and enjoy time with family and friends during this special time of year. Happy holidays. We can’t wait to work with you in the New Year!
