On Thursday, May 28, at 11 am EDT, Clean Fuels Ohio will host a webinar on electric vehicle (EV) charging best practices and funding sources. Those interested can register in advance.
The intended audiences are retailers, local governments, parking garages, and others who are currently hosting EV charging sites or are considering investing in that at some point. It also will be relevant to charging at workplaces and residential complexes. The webinar will be especially useful to utilities, local governments, state agencies or others who are currently or planning to provide any type of incentive funding for EV charging sites. It is important that funding agencies base eligibility, funding criteria, and other rules on established best practices.
Attendees will learn about:
• Best Practices (Site Selection, Equipment, Pricing, O&M, Additional Revenue Streams) for EV Charging Site Hosts • Funding Sources for Installing EV Charging • Clean Fuels Ohio’s Tools and Resources for EV Charging Site Hosts
The lack of EV charging remains a significant market barrier. Ohio and other states need significantly more fast charging to promote intercity travel by the public and reliable charging for shared mobility providers (taxis, Uber, Lyft, shuttles and so forth) as they electrify. For some situations, EV charging presents a “market failure” problem. Stations are needed to provide consumers confidence they need to purchase EVs. However, for some locations, the pool of EV owners does not provide site hosts enough revenue today without incentives. Many site hosts also are confused about how to set pricing for charging. For some level 2 sites, offering charging for free may drive additional revenue streams. However, this may be the wrong approach for fast charging. Finally, site hosts may be confused about what kinds of equipment they need, given growing choices in the market.
The presentation is scheduled to take about 45 minutes with 10 minutes at the end for questions and answers.
